About

Welcome to Café La Onda, where our coffee is more than a drink - it's a community - and  here, you’re more than a customer; your family. We're a hub for diverse stories, shared experiences, and the heartbeat of Woodburn's culture.

Beyond coffee, we support our local community and the small farms in Mexico that supply our coffee, empower our neighbors, and foster connections. Join us in creating a place where the aroma of coffee is the scent of inclusion and shared moments.

Our Roots:

At Café la Onda, we believe in more than just serving coffee; we believe in connecting cultures. Our coffee beans, harvested by local hands in Mexico, carry the flavor of the community. We believe in helping our communities the best way we can. Café la Onda sources its coffee directly from small-scale farms. Over time, we have fostered a close relationship with our farmers that goes beyond transactions.

We began as The Groove Café La Onda with its former owner and our friend, Eric Swenson. His vision was to have a local coffee shop and place of gathering here in Woodburn. His groovy ways and hippie ideas laid the foundation for the business and culture we embody today. While we so love and appreciate our groovy heritage, we are passionate about our Mexican artisanal coffee, and a vintange vibe is much more our style so we’ve changed to reflect our love of antiques and vintage items, both from here and from Mexico.

Café la Onda's Values:

This café is not just a business; it's a community and a reflection of our values as people: we are Mexican and American. We are parents, children, siblings, friends, family. Here, success isn't measured solely in sales or metrics; it's about creating an environment where every person feels heard, valued, and cared for.

Our passion lies with bringing and serving excellent coffee from Mexico and supporting the small communities and families we do. And we strive to build a sustainable business for our families and build a community where everyone feels welcome.

Bridging Cultures in Woodburn:

Woodburn, with its Latino touch and vibrant community, became the canvas for our story. The café's location, nestled among Mexican businesses and surrounded by the warmth of the community, earned Woodburn the affectionate nickname Tijuanita (Little Tijuana) or Little Mexico.

Beyond Woodburn:

Café La Onda stretches beyond the boundaries of Woodburn. Through our online presence, we’ve reached across borders and connected with coffee lovers all around the world. Now, a cup of our coffee doesn't just belong to Woodburn; it goes straight to the heart of your home, carrying the rich essence of our heritage, one sip at a time.

Your Cup, Your Story:

As you sip on our carefully crafted coffee, know that you're not just enjoying a beverage; you’re helping a community as well as partaking in a story. No matter the reason, Café la Onda is more than a business; it's a place where you can feel at home.

Sincerely,

Luis & Carisa
